Of course he has less to offer in terms of solutions but that does not diminish the value of the critique.<BR/><BR/>In the background to the Frankfurt school we have not only Heidegger (perhaps most notably in some of Habermas’ works) but also Lukács. Lukács who, in the 1920s, was a member of Arbeitskreis für Planwirtschaft (ARPLAN) together with people like Jünger, Niekisch and Hielscher. (Yes, skinheadzmustdie managed to get <I>something</I> right.)<BR/><BR/>Lukács’ interest in Schmitt is well known. As is Walter Benjamin's (who admittedly was close to, rather than a part of, the Frankfurt school).<BR/><BR/>Similarities between the German non-Stalinist left of the 1920-40s and conservative revolutionaries are in many cases most likely not coincidences. It would probably be wrong to assume that inspiration travelled only from "right" to "left".
